With our expansion of original content, we are seeking an Assistant Editor to aid our Editor with day-to-day operations.

- As a student-run organisation, all current writers are university or sixth-form students
- This position, like all roles, is voluntary and unpaid
- You need to be politically active online and able to commit time to help lead our team
Who we’re looking for:
- A university student (desirable)
- Someone with a strong journalism background and passion for the field
Roles and responsibilities:
- Assist with uploading, formatting, and publishing of political news articles using WordPress
- Assist with ensuring all published content meets editorial and journalistic standards
- Source and use copyright-free images only, ensuring proper attribution
- Write, and approve, high-quality political news articles on things such as government announcements, policy analysis, election and polling analysis, explainers, and global political news relevant to UK readers
- Fact-check and proofread articles before publishing to our website
- Manage external story requests and collaborations
- Assist with the reviewing and recommendation of relevant press releases to the editorial team
- Identify trending political topics and suggest stories for coverage
- Ensure an impartial and fair approach to political reporting
- Assist in social media promotion of articles
Key skills:
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading
- Knowledge of UK and global politics
- Experience with WordPress or digital publishing platforms
- Ability to liaise with press offices and MPs
- Strong understanding of copyright laws and media ethics
- Excellent news judgment and attention to detail
